Meet the Future: Nanan STEM Academy Uses Robot Dog to Teach Robotics

At Nanan STEM Academy, cutting-edge education isn’t just a goal—it’s a daily reality. As a leading STEM school committed to preparing students for the future, we continue to integrate the latest technologies into our robotics program. One of our most exciting new additions? The Unitree Go2 AIR robot dog.

Teaching Robotics with Real-World Technology

The Unitree Go2 AIR is more than just a high-tech gadget. It’s a fully programmable quadruped robot that gives students hands-on experience with modern robotics. At Nanan STEM Academy, students use this platform to explore how machines move, sense, and interact with the world. This robot dog can be controlled remotely, allowing students to understand motion dynamics in real time. It can also be programmed for autonomous navigation, giving learners the chance to apply their coding skills to real-world robotics challenges.

Nanan Academy student learning about robotics

To make learning both fun and accessible, students use block programming to code the robot dog. This visual, drag-and-drop coding language helps learners understand the logic of programming without needing prior experience in text-based coding. The robot has sensors that provides real-time capabilities. A camera provides live video streaming to a connected app. A LiDAR sensor enables the robot to map its surroundings, a key step in teaching students about autonomous navigation and environmental awareness.
