Redefining Education at Nanan STEM Academy

From Passion to Purpose

At Nanan STEM Academy, our purpose is to prepare students for post-secondary education while equipping them with the essential skills for lifelong success. Through a holistic approach that integrates science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) with entrepreneurship education, we cultivate not only technical knowledge but also personal growth, fostering confidence, creativity, and resilience in every learner.

What is our secret sauce?

5 Pillars of Nanan STEM Academy

Pillar 1: Learning by Doing

Project-Based Learning is used at Nanan STEM Academy where students don’t just absorb information — they build, create, and innovate. Whether it’s programming a robot, designing a game, or printing a 3D prototype, every learning outcome is tied to hands-on, real-world projects. These experiences develop essential skills such as problem-solving and design thinking, which are the demands of post-secondary institutions and industry environments.

Pillar 2: Student-Led, Teacher-Guided

Nanan Academy creates an engaging, student-driven environment, where teachers facilitate learning based on each learner’s Zone of Proximal Development. Students are empowered to lead their learning journey, supported by mentors who encourage their curiosity. This fosters confidence, independence, and a love of learning.

Pillar 3: Learning Together

Community and family are at the heart of our school. In our program, parents and children learn side by side—coding games, building robots, and exploring the digital world. It’s more than just education. It’s connection, empowerment, and legacy-building. We proudly integrate culture with STEM, working with families from diverse backgrounds to create a rich, multicultural learning environment where everyone belongs.

Pillar 4: Fueling the Talent Pipeline

Support from partners such as K+S Potash Canada, Enbridge, Yara Belle Plaine, Truly Alive Youth and Family Foundation, and the Saskatchewan Science Centre allow us to offer the best education with the latest technologies. Our partners are investing in a more equitable future. We are bridging high school and post-secondary education, offering work-integrated learning experiences such as guest speakers, industry tours, and collaborative projects that expose students to real career pathways. Furthermore, our students are heavily involved in Skills Canada competitions. Nanan STEM Academy is recognized as a training ground for future talent. Employers see the value in our programs and frequently support our mission through sponsorships, equipment donations, and participation in student showcases.

Pillar 5: Curriculum Standards with Purpose

The full-length courses at Nanan STEM Academy are developed to align with Canadian curriculum standards, ensuring students are meeting key learning outcomes while exploring their passions. By integrating curriculum with creativity, students are not only prepared for provincial assessments but also excited about what they’re learning.

We operate in three ways:

a) After-school program: We offer a long-term, sustainable program with a catalogue of courses ranging from introductory coding to advanced robotics and entrepreneurship. Coding and robotics are just components of a larger system.

b) Supporting public schools: We offer a custom Learning Management System platform that houses our course material. Schools license our platform and use it in the classroom. The platform is designed so any child can use it independently.

c) Summer camps and workshops: We have offered extremely engaging camps that have parents and children asking for more.

Final Thoughts: More Than a STEM School

Nanan Academy is more than a STEM program—it’s a movement. It is a place where students build essential 21st-century skills. Let’s prepare the next generation to not just participate in the future, but to lead it. Visit www.NananAcademy.com
