Skills Canada National Competition 2022

Each year, Skills Canada holds provincial and national competitions in which Secondary and Post-Secondary students can compete in their chosen field of study. This year, the Post-Secondary national competition was held in Vancouver on May 26 and 27, 2022. There were over 300 competitors from all provinces of Canada who participated in 35 skilled trade and technology competitions. The Secondary competitions were held virtually this year, which included over 200 competitors in 45 skilled trade and technology competitions.

Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s Computer Engineering Technology student, David Shields, won Gold in the Post-Secondary Electronics competition at Skills Canada National competition. In this competition, there were 5 other competitors from Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Manitoba.

Last year in the 2021 Skills Canada National Virtual Competition, Computer Engineering Technology student, Jack Hawkins, won Silver.

“Achieving awards in the national competitions are indicative of the hard work and dedication of our students,” said Shaun Nanan, Program Head, Computer Engineering Technology.
