Skills Canada Saskatchewan Provincial Competition 2025: Game Development
The Skills Canada Saskatchewan Provincial Competition took place on March 27th and 28th, 2025, at the Saskatchewan Polytechnic Saskatoon Campus. This event brought together talented students from across the province to compete in over 40 skilled trade and technology competitions. The competitions were in six diverse sectors—Manufacturing and Engineering, Construction, Transportation, Information Technology, Employment, and Service.
One of the exciting competitions this year was Game Development. Competitors were from the Secondary and Post-Secondary levels. The Game Development competition followed a Game Jam-style format, challenging students to develop a 2D web-based game that aligned with a specific theme. This year’s theme was “Spark Something.”

In just under 30 hours, students worked collaboratively to design and program a playable game. The competitors employed real-world teamwork, creativity, and technical skills. The Game Development competition highlights the increasing importance of digital skills and innovation in Saskatchewan’s workforce. Events like these not only celebrate student talent, but also help build pathways to careers in game design, software development, and interactive media.

Congratulations to all the competitors for their dedication, hard work, and ingenuity! Links to the games are shown below.
