STEM Learning for Military Families
Canadian Forces Morale & Welfare Services offers Personnel Support Programs (PSP) Summer Camps for children of military families. The camps provide an engaging environment where children can participate in recreation, sports, science, arts, and other activities. The PSP Summer Camp was held at 15 Wing Moose Jaw in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada, during July and August 2026.
Nanan Academy and the PSP Summer Camp
The summer camp included two themed weeks, Science Week and Space & Aviation Week, with a variety of activities offered throughout each week for children ages 6 to 11. Nanan Academy contributed two days of hands-on programming and robotics workshops during each week.
As part of the curriculum, students learned how to create games using Scratch programming. Scratch provides an introduction to programming through a visual programming platform. Students created interactive games while developing computational thinking, logical sequencing, and problem-solving skills.

Students also explored robotics using the Edison Educational Robot. They programmed the robot to perform different movements and learned how instructions written in a computer program can control a physical robot.
Another highlight of the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) workshops was a demonstration of the Unitree Go2 Air robot dog. Students had an opportunity to see a more advanced robotic system and observe how a modern robot can move and interact with its environment.

Learning Through STEM
Nanan Academy provides practical, hands-on STEM learning opportunities that encourage students to explore, experiment, and build confidence.
